We're about to visit the centre of political power in Canada. If you were allowed to ask the government a question or two, what would you ask about and why?

Pourquoi est-ce qu'on peut continuer d'echanger tous nos produit avec les E.U. a la meme prit quand ces resources sont beaucoup plus important qu'ils etaient il y a dix ans.
ReplyDeleteWhy do we continue to trade our natural resources with the U.S. at relatively the same price now when these resources are so much more valueble than they were even ten years ago.

Comment faire comprendre l'importance du bilinguisme chez la prochaine génération? Et que faite-vous pour encourager cette idee dans l'ouest du pays?

I would ask them why they feel its right to take all of the resources from the west and give them to the east. The western provinces provide most of the resources in canada and once the resources are pooled the west recieves very little back compared to what they contribute. Even though the east has a lot more people, I still think they could divey it up fairer.
ReplyDeleteI would probably ask them something about the percent of poverty in Canada and why it is the way it is, or something about their thoughts on this situation. I have strong opinions about this and i would just like to hear other opinions from people in power.

I would ask what physical things they have done to reduce thier personal carbon foot print! And what plans they have in place to generate electricity from renewable sources.
ReplyDeleteI know it is after the fact but I was very pleased with Mr. Goodale's response to David's question regarding advice to our students. It is easy to become so caught up in our own lives that we forget our own role in a democratic society.
ReplyDeleteJe pense que c'est facile d'oublier nos responsabilites comme membres d'une pays democratique et quand M. Goodale a repodu au question de David, ca m'a fait reflechir de l'importance de chaque citoyen au Canada.

If I had to ask a question it would be what their favorite famous moment was. I don't care about business, taking care of your constituency is EXTREMELY important!! Andrew Scheer did a great job of doing that today with Brett, Nicole and myself! He was soo happy to have people from Saskatchewan come and visit him. And I even think he was talking to the Speaker before session about introducing, or pointing us out. Because he was talking to the Speaker and then they both looked right up to where Brett and I were sitting. :)

I enjoyed his generosity as well Kaitlyn, I am so pleased that the 4 of us shared that special opportunity!

How to get their job in like the easiest way?? I wanna be a big political name.
ReplyDeleteAlso I'd ask them about their plan to deal with the growing poverty epidemic.
I would ask them about the have/have not provinces. Usually the western provinces are the "have not" ones where as the eastern provinces are the "have" ones. Through the current situation, this has been reversed and now the western provinces are better off than the eastern ones. What will they do to keep this economic strength continued on in the west and what will they do to improve on both the east and the west's economy.
ReplyDeleteI would also discuss the preference to the eastern provinces in all things, and how the western ones get shafted out of certain issues and bonuses. Just because we don't make up a lot of the population doesn't make us any less Canadian and any less worthwhile.
