What a week!!!
Well, the eJ adventure in Ottawa is almost over. We've had a few adventures, met famous people, visited world-class museums . . . and produced some of the best eJournalism projects ever!!! So where do you go from here? Please let us know a bit about your plans for the future and how your eJournalism experience may play a part in your plans. Thanks for everything!

ReplyDeleteWhen I began the eJournalism project I had very little interest in becoming a journalist, however I have now become much more interested. I will probably continue to go on studying Business, but what I have learned with this experience with benifit me for the rest of my life.

ReplyDeleteI have my entire future ahead of me and I have a few years to think about what exactly I want to do in my life and in my future. Even if I don’t know exactly what I am going to accomplish later on in my life right now at this point, I can still use all the qualities that I have learned and picked up from my experience in eJ; time management, working in groups with different people and throwing ideas out there, good or bad. In all honesty, I loved every single aspect of Ottawa, so I really can’t say what my favorite part of it all was. Whether it was the 22 km bike tour across Ottawa and the Gatineau, working on the feature with NISHOHAWKK PRODUCTIONS (Brett and Karly) or recording Mme Campbell singing “Stayin’ Alive” outside a convenience store, I couldn’t tell you which I enjoyed more. But I will say one thing for sure: In all my life, I have never encountered people so genuine, so amazing than all the people in the eJ group and in all my life I have never been so happy to work with a group of friends so trusting, hard working and caring. My one hope is that everyone stays in touch with each other in the next years to come. I wish everyone the best and good luck in your lives.

Gasp, the future, well I have the next year of my life planned out Kinda, I am off to the University of Saskatchewan for at least a year. After that, who knows where the wind will take me. I know I will be able to use all my eJ skills in the future. It gives you so many good personality skills that help out, something that a typical classroom setting ignores. Tight deadlines, I know if you don't make a dead line, someone WILL be breathing down your neck. Also the friends I have made I hope to stay close with them. The future is a mystery, it will make for many news stories to come!
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't think I will pursue a journalistic career, I have compiled quite a collection of skills and experiences from both the Ottawa and Banff eJ trips that I participated in. Most of all, I have appreciated not procrastinating and finding something to be working on when you are seemingly "not busy". I don't think that one can actually be "not busy" for more than five minutes without then just wasting their (and everyone else's) time.
ReplyDeleteBesides that though, I have come to appreciate the value of being early for a deadline and allowing time to re-edit/re-revise. Something can always be improved!
Next year I am going into university, and I will most definately use the time-management skills that came with being a part of this eJ team. There just comes a time when you have to rush through something and not have it be your best work. Sometimes, mediocre is just fine.
I also brought away life friends from the trip to Ottawa. Being part of a group of 18 students, there was enough of us to give the group diversity and options for activities, but small enough that we could all hang out and get along well. This is important, and I wish the best of luck to those of you who are grade 12's, as well as the rest of you who still have to suffer through high school. (joking! I would never call high school something to suffer through. It is probably the easiest thing I will do in my entire life)
I will miss everyone dearly, including the teachers who added a lot to the team with helping us out and letting us experiment on our own. I hope I see y'all again sometime. If not, I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide to do!
